This section details student enrolment in education by levels during the academic year 2013-14. This section also includes age-in-grade enrolment.
Student Enrolment
Within the early childhood sector, enrolment increases significantly with age both in the privately and publicly operated facilities. It must be noted that the enrolment is particularly low within the birth to two years age cohort. While the enrolment increases significantly in the 3-4+ years cohort, the rise is even greater amongst the private institutions across Member States. The majority of the enrolment within Special Schools is within the publicly operated institutions within the 6-10 and 11-15 cohorts. It is noteworthy, that while enrolment is on the decline there has been an increase in the number of teachers.

3.2A Age in-Grade Enrolment in Education
3.2B Over and Under aged Primary & Secondary Pupils
The graphs in this section highlight that there is some variation in the age-in-grade distribution across member states. This may be in part due to differences in the entrance age and entrance date for Kindergarten. For example, the entrance date for Kindergarten in some countries is 31st December in the year in which the child turns 5 years, whilst it is 31st March in other countries.
