Rap in the making
Rap is a form of music that started in the 70's. This music has grown in many different ways. It became very popular among the people of Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles. But what word does rap derive from? It can be traced back as early as 15th and 16th century Britain where the word meant to stike or hit. A few centuries later it meant to talk or to hold a conversation.
Who knew that this would later turn into the biggest genre of the century?
Rap Through
the Ages
In fact, record producers and labels all dismissed the few people who tried to make this genre a new style. The companies would label it as a fad and say that they did not feel compelled to invest into such a style of music.
Rap was mainly used to introduce the DJ or MC. Later, in 1979, Sugar Hill Gang released the song "Rappers Delight" which was the first rap song ever produced. After this other groups stepped up their game and started coming out with new beats and sick rhymes.
