10 Steps To Write and Perform A Spoken Word

A modern form of art is Spoken Word. At Odyssey we use this art form a lot. There is a process to this very descriptive and visual art form. Most artists do not just step on the stage and start to create a poem then and there. They spend weeks, sometimes months working on it. Today you will learn to write one of these poems in 10 easy steps.

1: Brainstorming: This is perhaps the key process to writing anything. Without an idea you cannot have a paper or presentation. It is very important to find a topic that you agree with.

2: Organizing your

thoughts:Your thoughts are the most important part of a spoken word. The flow is also a vital part of the artistry in spoken word. You could have a poem that is really good and touches on a great topic, but if the flow is choppy then it wouldn't be as affective.

3:Power:When writing, you want to give your work power. This can be added by giving description for specific lines that might need it. I could write "The sun makes me feel really happy," but that is not descriptive enough. In order to give it more power I would write it like, "When I stepped out of the cold dungeon that is my house, the beaming light of the orange sun smacked me in the face." This sounds a lot more descriptive, and it captivates the reader.

4: Editing:Editing is another way of organizing your thoughts. When you edit, you move lines, take out, and add in some other ones. Do not be scared by this process. Usually you first encounter with this is when you are making the first draft. It should be a time to experiment and have fun, as well as to find your writing styles!

5:Final

Product:After all of the writing and editing process, you are finally done. Hopefully these tips will help you with your writing, and better you with your creative flow. Each piece you write is unique, adding so much value to the content.
