SUFFRAGETTE This story has been a long time in the coming, and will run riot with your emotions It’s quite amazing that this story hasn’t made the big screen in more recent memory, as it’s certainly one that deserves to be told. Tracking the stories of the foot soldiers in the early feminist movement, this focusses on Maud (Carey Mulligan – Drive, Inside Llewyn Davis), a working class woman who has seen her and her fellows’ peaceful protests achieve nothing. They decide that they have to take up more extreme measures to fight for dignity in an increasingly brutal state. It’s a story from our not-sodistant past that forced everyday woman to risk their jobs, homes, children and lives in the pursuit of equality.
