Look Gru’s back! Our hair-challenged hero faces ‘twin’ threats in Despicable Me 3. Will he return to his evil ways? ife was good for former supervillain-turned-devoted dad Felonius Gru at the end of 2013’s blockbusting Despicable Me 2. He’d defeated the bad guy (the infamous El Macho), got the girl (his beloved Lucy) and was proving a more-than-able father to his adorable adopted offspring: Margo, Edith and Agnes. Heck, even his tiny yellow lackeys, the Minions, were behaving themselves (well, kind of!). Unfortunately for our sardonic antihero, this bubble of good fortune well and truly bursts in Despicable Me 3 and it’s all to do with the new supervillain in town: Balthazar Bratt. Bratt is a former 1980s TV child star who just can’t let go of the decade that style forgot. From his mullet and tache to his gravity-defying shoulder pads and Michael Jackson- inspired fight moves, he’s officially the least cool baddie of all time. But Bratt doesn’t care, all he wants is to be back in the limelight again. To ensure this happens, he plots to steal the world’s biggest diamond, which is being kept on a heavily guarded ocean liner... Alarmed, the Anti Villain League tasks agents Lucy and Gru (now going by the name Grucy, much to Gru’s horror – “I like it, but not a lot. I don’t like it!”) with stopping him, but Bratt proves a slippery customer and gets away with the unfeasibly large gem.
