a series of concerts
every year in his
hometown of Maastricht in
the Netherlands, and on 18
July his performance will
be exclusively screened via
satellite in cinemas. We
recently caught up with
André to talk about the
upcoming concert show…
What do you love most
about performing in
Maastricht?
“I’ve always dreamt about
performing in my
hometown. For us, these
concerts are among the
highlights of the whole
year. The atmosphere is
magical, surrounded by all
these happy people.”
How do you feel about
this concert reaching
such a huge audience?
“I think it is a fantastic
opportunity to reach our
dear fans all over the world
who are not able to come to
Maastricht to join us. It is
very special for us that we
can reach them this way
before returning to the UK
in December for live shows.”
What would you say to
someone who hasn’t been
to one of your cinema
events before?
“They can expect the most
beautiful melodies from all
over the world, songs from
opera, operetta, film,
musical, the 20s/30s and of
course a lot of wonderful
waltzes. I hope you will
dance in the aisles with us.
And the atmosphere is just
so special: the historic
square, the fireworks, the
happy people from all over
the world… it’s always a
very special night for us all.”
And finally, how will you
top last year’s show?
“We will play a completely
different program. I loved
last year’s performance,
when we transformed the
square into Venice for a
night of ‘Love in Venice’.
This year will also be full of
surprises – you can be sure
about that.”
