The latest film news and previews from ODEON... This lot are the good guys? Cripes! Suicide Squad Bad? Without a doubt! Mad? Almost certainly. Dangerous? Don’t even get us started! “Gentlemen, ladies, what if Superman had decided to fly down, rip off the roof of the White House, and grab the President right out of the Oval Office? Who would have stopped him?” That’s the question America’s best and brightest are asking themselves at the start of Suicide Squad, the third film in DC’s Extended Universe series following 2013’s Man of Steel and this year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. These elite minds eventually decide that to stop a super-charged being PHOTO:© 2016 Warner Bros. Ent. 5 AUG 4 odeon.co.uk you need a super-charged baddie, or rather a team of them, and thus Task Force X (as the group is officially known) is born. This rag-tag and volatile ensemble is made up of the world’s most fiendish felons including Joker (Jared Leto), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez) and Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). In exchange for clemency, these incarcerated guys and gals (who have all found themselves behind bars at the hands of Batman) must carry out dangerous black-ops missions for the US government. If they die along the way, then that’s their tough cheese (which is where the Suicide Squad nickname comes from). If they disobey, try to escape, irritate or even vex, they also die... Harsh! After a really long line of superhero films, it’s refreshing to see one where the bad guys take centre stage. With such an unpredictable line-up of characters, it also means that all bets are off in terms of the plot. After all, would you trust this motley crew to do the right thing? No, us neither!
