Watch the trailer American Made TBC The CIA. The White House. Pablo Escobar. Tom Cruise plays them all... DIRECTOR Doug Liman STARRING Tom Cruise, Sarah Wright, Domhnall Gleeson After a quiet period by his own prolific standards, Tom Cruise has been absolutely everywhere of late. He followed up last year’s brutal but brilliant Jack Reacher: Never Go Back with the action- packed The Mummy (which you can still catch in cinemas if you’re really quick). He also recently signed on the dotted line for the Top Gun sequel and is currently filming MI:6 – Mission Impossible. Phew! If that wasn’t enough, Cruise has also got a new movie out this month, the fabulous biographical crime thriller American Made. FAST FACTS 25 AUG American Made is Tom’s third biographical outing following 1989’s Born on the Fourth of July and 2008’s Valkyrie. It’s also the second time Doug Liman and Cruise have teamed up – their first collaboration was the underrated 2014 sci-fi actioner Edge of Tomorrow. Check it out if you haven’t already! Helmed by Doug Liman (the director behind such action classics as The Bourne Identity and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, it tells the astonishing true story of Barry Seal (Cruise), a pilot/ smuggler/CIA informant who ended up embarrassing the Ronald Reagan White House (you’ll have to watch the film to find out why). Co-starring Domhnall Gleeson and Jayma Mays, and featuring a script by Gary Spinelli (a relative newcomer to the game, but someone whom there’s a heck of a lot of buzz about), this has all the makings of another Cruise classic. Tom Cruise – a cinematic supremo and most definitely American made. This is very much one to watch. odeon.co.uk 21 Domhnall was gutted that Tom was beating him in the high trousers stakes!
