Watch the trailer Atomic Blonde Watch the trailer The Dark Tower TBC TBC A superb action thriller that more than does justice to its source material! A dazzling fantasy Western based on Stephen King’s series of novels... DIRECTOR David Leitch STARRING Charlize Theron, Sofia Boutella, James McAvoy, toby jones DIRECTOR Nikolaj Arcel STARRING Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, TOM TAYLOR Based on Antony Johnston and Sam Hart’s brilliant graphic novel, The Coldest City, Atomic Blonde sees the Oscar-winning Charlize Theron tearing up the screen as high-ranking MI6 agent Lorraine Broughton. She’s savage, she’s sultry, she’s the best damn spy in Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service (indeed, Theron put so much into the role, that she actually cracked two teeth during filming). Broughton’s latest mission – if she chooses to accept it, and she does – is to travel alone to 1989 Berlin to transport a vital dossier out of the city. Gulp! This is Leitch’s first solo directing gig – after co-helming John Wick – and he does a fantastic job. Unmissable. Idris Elba is Roland Deschain, AKA The Gunslinger, a gruffly spoken knight (of sorts) who’s sworn to protect both his world (Mid-World) and ours “from the coming of the dark”. To do this, he must – with help from 11-year-old Jake Chambers – locate the mysterious Dark Tower of the title before Matthew McConaughey’s nefarious Man in Black can. If they fail, and the tower falls, well, let’s just say that it isn’t going to be pretty (this is Stephen King after all). “He’s like the Devil isn’t he?” says Jake to Roland about the Man in Black. “No,” Roland mumbles in response. “He’s worse…” We have high hopes indeed for this one! 9 AUG 18 AUG The Emoji Movie TBC DIRECTOR Tony Leondis VOICES T.J. MILLER, ANNA FARIS, SOFIA VERGARA, PATRICK STEWART When we first heard about The Emoji Movie we were a little sceptical. An entire film about those tiny icons you send with text messages – surely it couldn’t be much cop? 4 AUG Watch the trailer 20 odeon.co.uk But we were wrong... For starters, it’s got an all-star cast that includes James Corden (Hi-5 emoji) and Patrick Stewart (poop emoji). It’s also smart and very funny, with an inspired plot about an emoji (Gene) who’s capable of – gasp – multiple expressions. The perfect summer film. Welcome to the secret world inside your phone...
