SOAKING UP
THE SUN
The Park District has partnered with E4, an energy and sustainability consulting firm, to enroll in the Illinois Community Solar program.
Community solar provides both economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy through the development of local solar farms in a participating utility’ s service area. These subscriptions offset electrical usage with solar energy by sending solar energy generated by the solar project directly to the power grid. Subscriptions reduce dependence on fossil fuels and subscribers receive solar credits from the utility for the energy that is produced, lowering utility bills.
By enrolling in the community solar program, the Park District is taking meaningful steps to support renewable energy initiatives and advance its sustainability goals whole lowering operational energy costs. The program reduces the Park District’ s reliance on traditional energy sources and lowers the District’ s carbon footprint, aligning with GPD’ s new Environmental Sustainability plan.
