We recognize that our members represent an array of political perspectives, and that diversity is part of what makes our association so effective. Where we can unite is around the very real impact housing policy can have on our daily operations and, quite frankly, the livelihoods of many of our smaller operators.
When completing your ballot, we encourage you to consider the issues that matter most to you and to learn more about the candidates seeking to represent your community. In the pages that follow, we highlight lawmakers and candidates based on their records, stated positions, and engagement on issues affecting Colorado’s rental housing industry.
As you read through this guide, it will become apparent that we work across the aisle, offering our financial support to both moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats. That approach contributed to our success during the 2026 legislative session, when we were able to defeat two pieces of legislation that would have further complicated Colorado’s eviction process.
"In total, we made $384,350 in campaign contributions this cycle—nearly double what we contributed during the previous cycle."
We hope that number underscores how seriously we are taking the changing political environment and what we anticipate may be ahead.
But financial investment is only one piece of what makes our advocacy effective. Our greatest strength comes from operating together—as an industry with a shared voice, a shared understanding of what is at stake, and a willingness to show up when it matters. The more unified and engaged we are, the stronger our ability to shape the conversations and policies that directly affect our industry.
Ultimately, our strength has always come from our ability to operate together. Our financial investment matters, but so does the collective voice of our members—the operators, employees and industry partners who understand firsthand how decisions made at the Capitol translate into the day-to-day realities of providing housing in Colorado.
The political landscape is changing, and the next few years will require us to remain informed, engaged and united. We hope this guide gives you a clearer understanding of what is at stake this November, who will be shaping the conversations ahead, and why your participation matters.
Whatever your political perspective, we are stronger when we show up together.
With consequential races on the ballot this November, we encourage every AAMD member to make a plan to vote and to ensure your voice is heard. Colorado makes it easy to vote early, by mail, at a ballot drop box, or in person—but don’t wait until Election Day to get prepared. Review the important dates below, check your voter registration, and visit GoVoteColorado.gov for official election information, including registration, ballot status, voting locations, and more. Most importantly, make a plan, cast your ballot, and encourage your colleagues, family, and friends to do the same.
