Fostering Career & College Success at Jersey Shore
Whether a student wants to enter the workforce, enlist in the armed forces, or attend college to further their education, Jersey Shore Area Senior High School is fostering career and college-ready graduates through its comprehensive Career & Technical Education( CTE) programs. CTE programs immerse learners in simulated work environments and deliver real-world, hands-on technical training to students during the regular school day. Jersey Shore is proud to offer twelve CTE programs that prepare graduates for in-demand, high-priority occupations in central / northeastern PA and beyond.
CTE delivers direct, hands-on experience with industry tools, equipment, and shops / labs that are difficult to replicate in an online or home-based environment. In CTE, students don’ t just learn about a career, they practice it daily, following standard operating procedures that prepare them for the real workforce. Many students find CTE more engaging because it connects academic content with practical applications. Instead of just learning math, they see how it applies to manufacturing, business, healthcare, or culinary skills.
All JSCTE programs allow students to earn industry-recognized certifications, licenses, or college credits while still in high school. These credentials give CTE graduates a head start in employment or higher education- advantages that may be more challenging to access through cyber or home school environments. CTE students connect directly with employers, mentors, apprenticeships, and internships in their chosen career field through their CTE programs. Field trips, guest speakers / presents, projects, and live work are built into all JSCTE programs as immersive experiences and provide a pathway to high-skill, high-wage, in-demand jobs.
If you are a resident of the Jersey Shore Area School District, consider speaking to your students about the CTE opportunities at Jersey Shore Area Senior High School! In Grade 10, students may enroll in the three-year business education CTE programs: Accounting Technology, Entrepreneurship, or Sales, Marketing & Distribution. In Grade 11, two-year CTE programs begin for: Automotive Service Technology, Childcare, Communication & Digital Media Technology, Computer Systems Networking, Construction & Building Maintenance, Culinary Arts, Health & Medical Assisting, and Precision Machining Technology. Grade 12 students may enroll in the Diversified Occupations CTE program if they are pursuing a career objective unrelated to the JSCTE programs.
