Bingo Event Breaks Fundraising Record for Flaming Foliage Festival
Lily Sporny , a senior at Bucktail High School , made a significant impact with her senior project by organizing a fundraiser for the Flaming Foliage Festival ( FFF ). The event , a night of bingo hosted at St . Joseph ’ s Church basement , raised an impressive $ 5,200 , marking a record-breaking achievement for the organization . Lily ’ s efforts were comprehensive , from gathering donations and promoting the event , to setting up the venue and hosting the evening . The FFF Committee expressed their deep appreciation for her tireless work , deeming the event so successful that they plan to make it a regular occurrence a couple of times each year .
The event also saw Lily ’ s family getting involved , with her younger sister Lenox helping to sell baked goods to the bingo players . Additionally , fellow Bucktail senior Martin Lewis assisted by checking winning bingo cards , ensuring the event ran smoothly . Lily was joined by Dan Heiser and Kedda Bissman in calling out bingo numbers and verifying winning cards , demonstrating strong teamwork . FFF member Martha Sykes also supported Lily , helping to check on bingo cards during the event . This project not only showcased Lily ’ s dedication , but also brought the community together for a cause that will benefit the FFF in the years to come .
Keystone Central Foundation Poker Run Golf Tournament Raises Funds to Support KCSD
With a new location and a new format , the Keystone Central Foundation wasn ’ t quite sure what to expect from this year ’ s Poker Run Golf Tournament , held at Belles Springs Golf Course in Mill Hall . Thankfully , because of strong community support and a huge volunteer contingent , the Foundation raised a record-breaking $ 21,700 at their August 16th tournament . The 18-hole scramble included traditional course games , such as the Longest Drive ( Winner : Evan Walker ) and Closest to the Pin ( Winner : Ron St . Clair ), among others , including a Poker “ Chip ” Challenge . Joker Tees kept the poker theme running all morning . The Poker Run itself was sponsored by West Pharmaceuticals , and the winning foursome with a Full House was the ESS team of Jeff Hite , Josh Fuller , KC Schiller , and Andy Hall . The Central Mountain High School Golf Team Foursome ( sponsored by King Spry ) won the tournament with an impressive score of 53 .
The proceeds from this event directly support the mission of the Keystone Central Foundation of promoting academics , cultural activities and other charitable purposes to enhance the education and welfare of students at the Keystone Central School District . This includes projects like the La Rue Hinchcliffe Stars in the Classroom Mini-Grants and other special funding requests throughout the district . More pictures from the tournament can be found on the Foundation ’ s website at www . kcfoundation . com .
