LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF AGRONOMY
We have been busy once again improving the golf courses . We have added new G-angle sand to hole 4 Deer Run . This sand is the best playing sand available and it is the preferred sand of the PGA Tour . We hope you enjoy it . We will use the sand in the future for any bunker renovations . We also changed the shape of the bunker to help with the maintenance around the bunker .
Before and after pictures of # 4 Deer
We also enhanced the area behind # 18 Deer . The following are before and after Pictures .
We continue to apply Command which has helped us in some of the struggling areas from nematode pressure . We will continue through the winter improving these areas .
We also added some coquina to the edges of the cart path on hole 17 of Deer . We will continue to fix the edges of all paths throughout the winter .
We continue to spray out the weeds that are present . We are definitely gaining on the removal of them on both courses .
We continue to clean up the scrub jay areas on Turtle and will do so until they are clean . We are required to do this in cooperation with our Audubon certification and are trying to provide additional habitat for them .
We will also be adding some additional slash pines to
both golf courses to provide a better framing of the holes . It will also eliminate some of the wide-open spaces . They will enhance the appearance of the golf course as well .
The last thing I will add is some golf course etiquette . We still see a lot of golfers driving right up to the greens and tees . This is not necessary , and we ask everyone to please refrain from doing so . It causes extra wear and tear on those areas . Please do your part in following the cart path rules . Handicap players should also use caution and never be closer than 5 yards from the edge of the collar . Also , please do not enter into a bunker from the top . Please always enter from the bottom as this keeps the slopes in good shape . Finally , please repair all ball marks ( it takes 21 days for a ball mark to heal on a green ) and fill your divots on the course .
We hope you enjoy what we have been able to accomplish to date . The future looks great at Sun ‘ N Lake !
Best Regards ,

Jimmie Murphy
