GROS PIERRE
FALL FEST
Saturday and Sunday, the
Gros Pierre Apple Orchard in
Compton was the hot spot of the
region as owners Gaetan Gilbert
and Melanie Elain Marcoux and
family welcomed all with open
arms to their annual Fall Pumpkin and Apple Fest.
The fun all started Saturday
morning with many families visiting the orchard and store to
find all sorts of tasty treats. The
true highlight of the weekend
was when families went down to
the huge pumpkin patch to
choose their pumpkins. Down
there all were greeted by Orise
the friendly witch and her slave
Igor. The children's eyes were
huge when they saw Igor–he
might have looked spooky, but he
is a good person. He always has
his brew cooking over an open
flame and is eager to show it to
all. The children chose their
pumpkins and it was time to
head back up to the tent where
they could decorate them.
Sunday, the fun was much the

Orchard were as festive as you could get at their Apple and Pumpkin
Fest this past weekend. Corey Bellam photo.

same, but at 1:30 p.m. a 5-foot
apple pie was unveiled and the
public was treated to some of the
best apple pie we've ever tasted.
Every year, Gaetan and Melanie–along with their team–certainly impress all with their
ideas.
We strolled around visiting
with both French and Englishspeaking people. They all had the
same opinion: they were having
fun and loved the event. It was
another huge success for Gros
Pierre Apple Orchard. The season is coming to an end, but they
are still open from 9 a.m. to 6
p.m. each day until Nov. 10.
Then Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You
can't miss the orchard–it is
located right on the main route
entering Compton.
