The OCR L3 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Media can be studied as:
? 18 units over 2 years—equivalent to THREE A’levels ? 12 units over 1.5 years—equivalent to TWO A’levels OR ? 6 units over one year—equivalent to ONE A’level at grades A-E.
When you gain this qualification you will have had access to a range of career and further education opportunities. You will have learnt and used a variety of skills throughout the course, including collecting, researching, analysing and interpreting a variety of different types of information and communicating your findings in different ways, and using a variety of media equipment and developing your technical and creative skills, all of which are valued by future employers and HE institutions.
What can I do next after my OCR L3 Diploma?
Many students consider going to university after their OCR in Media. Some local universities are now asking for 5 grade C GCSE’s including English and Maths. If you decide to study locally at De Montfort University you need 5 GCSE’s at grade C and also a Pass in Media for an HND (two year) course or an M/M/D in OCR L3 Media for a degree (three year course). Students from Media Studies have gone on to study at the following and other universities: Salford University, De Montfort University, Lincoln University, Sheffield Hallam University where they have studied a variety of courses from Media Studies, Radio, Journalism, and other subjects such as Psychology and Marketing. Some students come back to South Leicestershire College to take the HND in Media or professional qualifications in areas such as Marketing.
