HOMEGROWN HEROES
In February 2019, the Nation launched ‘Homegrown
Heroes’, an initiative focused on showcasing, thanking,
and encouraging community champions across Barbados.
Readers nominated individuals who were doing good work
in their communities pertaining to environmental protection
and beautification, education, youth development, feeding
programmes, sports, the arts, and more. Six individuals
were chosen and presented with gift packages containing
a cash prize, Nation goodies, and local treats.
The recipients were:
