The Effect of ocean acidification on pink salmon.
Currently levels of acidity in the ocean are rising due to the way humans live their lives which is having major effects on wild salmon. Pteropod are tiny shelled organisms and are eaten by juvenile north pacific salmon and due to the acidification the shells on the tiny creatures is dissolving off faster than it is made killing the organisms this is leaving the baby salmon without food putting another major fishery on the verge of collapse. pteropodpics1_med.jpg

Rising levels of acidity in the ocean are not the only thing against the salmon the rivers they are being born is are also more acidic now which is turing out to have major effects on salmon trying to return to their breeding grounds. The acidity is degrading their ability to smell which is the key to salmon finding their birth grounds to lay their own eggs but the salmon don't smell there inlet and get lost. These fish are also notably smaller and cannot use oxygen to exercise putting them at major disadvantages migrating finding food and evading predators. All of this is putting the fragile fishery at risk By
