Research and Development Internship Based at Royal College of Occupational Therapists HQ in London Bridge Fixed Term Contract – 8 weeks (1st July 2019 to 23rd August 2019) 35 hours per week Salary circa £3,600 for 8 week contract (FTE 24K per annum) The Education and Research Department at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists has responsibility for leading and shaping the occupational therapy profession in relation to research, pre-registration education, and continuing professional development. As part of our commitment to supporting the development of research capabilities and capacity within the profession, we are delighted to be introducing a new Research and Development Internship Scheme. This new internship scheme provides a fabulous opportunity for a recent graduate or pre-registration occupational therapy student currently in their final year of studies, who has a strong interest in developing their research-related skills and gaining an understanding of the work of the Education and Research Team within the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. The eight week internship is offered on a full-time basis between 1st July 2019 and 23rd August 2019 at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists’ London headquarters. The successful applicant will receive a salary during the internship, and a modest budget will be available to support related project work and CPD activity. The Intern can expect to: • Obtain first-hand experience of working within the Education and Research Team at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists • Work alongside the RCOT Research and Development Manager and Professional Development Manager on live, real-world projects to assist with the development, piloting, evaluation and dissemination of a range of RCOT resources to support members to enhance their research skills • Receive education, supervision and mentoring in relation to research skills and personal development • Be actively involved in research, including data collection and analysis • Experience the RCOT research governance process Applications for the internship are open to recent graduates (up to 2 years post registration) holding a minimum 2:1 honours degree/ merit for pre-registration Masters or pre-registration occupational therapy students currently in their final year of study with the equivalent predicted final degree outcomes. Applicants must also have a strong interest in research and development that can be demonstrated as part of the selection process.
