So , we started to trudge through the sand towards Fort Hunter . It was a long , tedious hike . Walking in an oxygen suit on Mars took a lot of effort . Everything felt as heavy as lead and the suit was hot . As we got closer , though , my oxygen meter began to beep . My oxygen level was getting dangerously low . The same thing happened with Ben . “ Lucas and I each only have 10 % of our total oxygen left ,” said Ben . “ Is that enough to make it to the closest Mars base ?” I asked , concerned . The captain looked concerned too .
“ You only have 10 % left ? The rest of us have just enough oxygen to make it to the settlement , but , no , 10 % isn ’ t nearly enough . Unless we find a way to restore your oxygen , neither one of you will make it to the next base .”
“ Well , what are we going to do ?” asked Ben , now looking more worried than I had ever seen .
There was only one possible solution . “ I have an idea .” I said . “ I can transfer all of my oxygen into Ben ’ s tank . That way he will have just enough oxygen to survive .” “ But what will happen to you ?” asked my dad . “ As soon as you get to the base , come back for me ,” I said sadly .
“ Maybe you can resuscitate me in time .” “ Absolutely not . I ’ ll just give you some of my oxygen ,” my dad replied . “ No ,” said the pilot . “ Lucas and Ben are the only ones with new suits . Our suits don ’ t have the ability to transfer oxygen . I ’ m afraid that Lucas ’ s
