Run the ball and play good defense? Pass the ball and be explosive and play good defense?

Logic would tell you that running the ball and playing good defense is the way to go. I would concur with that logic. Does having that big game experience propel you onward and upward against an opponent that has yet to grasp that brass ring? Does youthful enthusiasm and ruthless aggression trump experience? The truth is, we all strive to reach the same goal………we just all do it in different ways.

We caught up with the Texans Coach. He wouldn’t comment on the record. However, he did agree to let me paraphrase his thoughts. He had many, many clichés. He told me that it’s a vast difference going from the hunter….to being hunted. He also said, a great man used to say……….to be the man…………………WHOOOOOOO….you’ve gotta beat the man! But a sidebar saying to that statement is…….being the man……..and staying the man…….are two totally different things. He then went on some rant about jumping on and some references to Space Mountain and he lost me. …..I digress….alllllll of that being said. The gist is this…….as it specifically pertains to Coach Blessed: Anyone who has spoken to him…he has spoke of the talent level of the teams and coaches in the OBAFL. Yes, he’s won three Super Bowls and two back-to-back. But guess what, he’s not resting on his laurels. He caught wind of comments from Coach Wave that he may have looked beyond the Jaguars and Coach Chillguy. He wanted it known that was not the case. If you look at game 1 that the Jags and Texans played….the stats are almost identical. Matt Schaub threw two picks in both games.

The difference was……the hourglass ran out on the Texans in that game. Coach Chill and the Jags are a good team. It’s also about matchups. Some teams and some styles just don’t match up well against each other.

And that’s the main point of this rant. Coach Blessed has a chip on his shoulder. He has a little of that Michael Jordan mindset of he will create an issue…even if there isn’t an issue…to motivate himself. And his motivation is this: He still feels……..as if he’s the most overlooked…..three-time Super Bowl Champion there is. It’s a………”well he won…BUT…” feel to his wins and Super Bowl victories. So he closed with this……..he may not make it to the Super Bowl this season. His schedule is tough the rest of the way and Coach Mafia and Hitman are specifically waiting on him. But he promises this: He will not go down without a fight. Just like every other coach in the OBAFL, he will bring his A game every single week. And at the end of this Super Bowl journey,…whether it’s a pound the rock mindset…….a brick wall defense……or an air it out pitch and catch offense….or……whether it’s a coach like Bills Mafia or Pay YR Bills breaking through, or someone coming out and planting their flag of dominance like Coach Nizoki………or if someone from the old battle guard…..like even what’s his name with the three rings………every single team and coach will have bled…………………..sweat………and paid the price of a lifetime, to hold the sacred grail………of the Lombardi Trophy. There is no handicapping the field really. It’s just one big sprint to the finish line and 17 teams are at either at .500 or above .500 and in contention. The gun was just fired in the air fellas……………..let’s see who wants it the most!
