DAY 1 • Depart U. S. Depart the U. S. and fly to Trieste, Italy.
DAY 2 • Trieste, Italy Arrive in Trieste throughout the day. An O. A. T. representative will meet you at the airport and assist with your transfer to your hotel, where you’ ll join travelers arriving from the Coastal Slovenia pre-trip extension and travelers who arrived early in Trieste before the main adventure.

DAY 3 • Trieste • Postojna Caves, Slovenia • Embark ship After a Welcome Briefing, we’ ll drive over the border for a visit to Postojna Caves. One of the largest caverns in the world, the stalagmites and stalactites of Postojna are unrivalled anywhere. Following our tour, we’ ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. This afternoon, we’ ll embark our small ship. Meals: B, L, D | M / V Arethusa or M / V Athena
DAY 4 • Trieste • Miramare Castle Set off on a walking tour of Trieste’ s historic center, lined with elegant buildings from the time of the Habsburgs, and to Piazza Unita, the massive central square facing the Adriatic. We’ ll also enjoy splendid views of Trieste from the Trieste Cathedral( Basilica Cattedrale di San Giusto Martire), and the 15th-century San Giusto Castle, which both sit on a hill high above the city. DAY 5 • Pula • Honey farm visit Set off on a walking tour of Pula to discover its Roman ruins, including one of the largest and best-preserved Roman Amphitheaters in the world. We’ ll also stroll through the cobblestoned streets of Pula’ s Old Town, home to the Temple of Augustus, the Arch of Sergii, and the crumbled ruins of the original Roman walls. This afternoon, we’ ll learn about Istria’ s long tradition of beekeeping during a visit to a local honey-bee farm. Meals: B, L, D | M / V Arethusa or M / V Athena
DAY 6 • Rab • Goli Otok & Sveti Grgur • Home-Hosted Dinner This morning, enjoy a walking tour of the picturesque island of Rab, named Felix Arba, or“ Happy Island” by the ancient Romans. Later, visit the nearby islands of Goli Otok( Barren Island) and Sveti Grgur( St. Gregory), which were notorious camps for political prisoners during the Yugoslav era. DAY 7 • Lo $ inj • Mali Lo $ inj Today, we’ ll explore Lo % inj, another idyllic island nestled in Kvarner Bay. Known as the“ healing island,” people have been coming here for its restorative environment for centuries. We’ ll also visit the Museum of Apoxyomenos, a waterfront museum dedicated to just one exhibit— a
2,200-year-old bronze statue of a young athlete, the Apolyomenos, recovered from the bottom of the sea in 1997. Meals: B, L, D | M / V Arethusa or M / V Athena
DAY 8 • Sibenik • Optional Krka Falls & Village Discovery tour Today, we’ ll explore Sibenik, a medieval Venetian gem and oldest Slavic town on the Croatian coast. Highlights include the Cathedral of St James, the only cathedral in Europe built entirely from stone; and St. Nicholas Fortress, the coastal stronghold that once protected the city from invaders— both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
