Everyone has the right to feel safe and live without
fear of violence. Yet, in 2018, almost one woman
each week was killed through violent actions,
making violence against women a significant human
rights issue. “At Life Sumo, we’ve always been invested in
protection and safety, “ commented Mr Mousa. “In our
company, we work on people’s financial safety,
however it’s important to us to remind people that
personal safety come first.
The wearable safety bracelet the Safelet, developed by
a Netherlands-based company, has been brought to
North Queensland by James Mousa, director of
financial advisory company Life Sumo. The push of a
button is all it takes to make a difference to a person’s
safety by sending an emergency alert to family, friends
and a network of guardians. “With the alleged murder of Cairns woman Toyah
Cordingley last October, the near-abduction of a
woman in Trinity Beach last week as well as the
breathtaking number of violence-related deaths once
again highlighting our newsfeeds, this is an issue that
needs to be addressed.
