’ s time for Fiesta !

I have one word for you this fabulous season . FESTIVAL !
From 26 August - 4 September , immerse yourself in the Festival by attending events , taking part as a volunteer or even being in the Grand Parade itself . Get involved - Lets bring our community together and show the world what a great place Cairns is .
Local artists of every genre are preparing for this smorgasbord of delights - and you can join in too !
Cairns Regional Gallery are running all-ages “ still Life ” art classes on the Esplanade on 29-30 August from 5pm .
On 28 August from 4pm - 8pm , throw a blanket down on the grass near the Lagoon and enjoy a late afternoon FREE concert , featuring the best of local talent and world-class headline act ‘ Melbourne Ska Orchestra ’.
The ever popular , annual Grand Parade is a reflection of who we are , and where we live . The Parade officially sets off on 27 August at 5:30pm from the new Munro Martin Parklands and works it ’ s way down the Esplanade , finishing at Fogarty Park . Fireworks will light up the sky at 7:30pm , followed by more live music on the Festival Main Stage .
Peter Solness is a pioneer of lightpainting and is regarded as Australia ’ s foremost practitioner of this unique style of photography . He is Cairns Festival ’ s artistin-resident , and will conduct five of his
famous “ Field of Orbs ” events in locations around Cairns , painting our community with light . Become a volunteer “ orbster ” and spin specially designed lanterns around your body , creating trails of light to be captured in spectacular photographs . Carnival on Collins has become a Father ’ s Day tradition , attracting over 25,000 people to the Botanic Gardens precinct for a giant day of family fun . Featuring free entertainment for all ages , it ’ s a slice of life in the tropics , with market stalls offering local art and craft , produce , plants , food and refreshments . Come along on 4 September ; find DRUM MONSTER , make some noise and give Dad a family treat he will always remember .
