Elmhurst History Museum, 120 E. Park Ave.: New exhibit ex-
plores local railroad history through an eclectic array of inter-
esting artifacts including photos, maps and models of stations,
locomotives and railroad cars. Kids can try hands-on learning
stations including a wooden train play area, working telegraph,
and a track switching game.
Wheaton Public Library, 225 N. Cross St: Grades K-2 with care-
giver We have a new book club! Pick up a copy of Here’s Hank-
You Can’t Drink a Meatball Through a Straw by Henry Winkler
and Lin Oliver at the Youth Services desk beginning October 14.
Read the book as a family or independently before we meet for
a great discussion and activity. Registration required

Wonder Works Children’s Museum, 6445 W.North Ave.: Wonder
Works is opening up early the second Thursday of every month
for children with special needs. Wonder Works is welcoming
children 0 to 8 years old and their families in to enjoy the
museum during a quieter time with enhanced accessibility
throughout the museum. All attendees are welcome to stay in
the museum when it opens at 10am.

up for this art class! We will work with a variety of art supplies
including clay, glow-in-the-dark paint, and of course, lots and
lots of glitter! The kids will create snow globes that glow-in-
the-dark, butterflies that shimmer and glimmer, an Eiffel Tower

It’s a Wonderful Life: Live in Chicago!

The Museums at Lisle Station Park, 921 School St.: Come by for
a special Kids Time hosted by KIDS Urgent Care of Wheaton.
We will learn all about x-rays and germs, then we will make
a craft. Be sure to stick around for story-time with the Lisle
Library District.
Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave.: The second longest-running
holiday play returns to Chicago. For 17 years, the American
Blues Ensemble has treated Chicago audiences to a live 1940s-
style radio broadcast. Once again, the incredible “It’s a Wonder-
ful Life” cast assembles to recreate the entire town of Bedford
Falls with Foley sound effects, an original score and holiday car-
ols. Critics call this “perfect Christmas theater” and “first-class
holiday fare.” After each performance at Stage 773, the cast
keeps the merry mood going by serving milk and cookies to the
crowd. Thursday-Sunday; times vary. Tickets $19-$69.

day full of model train fun. Drop in to meet local model train
enthusiasts from Chicagoland T-Trak, see their innovative track
layouts and learn how model trains work. Check out the new
exhibit, “On the Right Track,” in the museum featuring interac-
tive learning stations for kids.
