uckily, night blindness is treatable. On the other hand, the treatment varies according to the patient and what caused it. If cataracts were primary reason for the condition to happen, they can be removed through surgery. In surgery, the surgeon will replace the cloudy lens with an artificial and clear lens. That will improve your vision radically.
If Vitamin A deficency was the main cause for the disease, it is also treatable. Doctors may recommend vitamin A supplemnts. If taken correctly, they can improve the night blindness. By taking vitamin A supplements you will avoid night blindness, extreme dryness of eyes and increasing softening of the corneas.
Genetic defects are another factor that can result in night blindness. Genetic conditions (i.e. retnitis pigmentosa) are not treatable. That is because the genetic defect does not respond to corrective lenses or surgery. Unfortunatly, night blindness is not treatable for patients with these symptoms.
Moreover, as mentioned earlier, glaucoma medications can cause night blindness. Switching the medications used for glaucoma is an easier solution to improve your night blindness.
In order to treat night blindness, it is neccessary to get a proper diagnosis to establish what was the main cause of the disease. Please contact your ophtamologist or a retina expert so that an efficient treatment plan is
made.
