DISTRICT HIGHLIGHT: MARINETTE no one deserves to be abused emotionally, physically, or sexually, and their primary mission is to ensure the safety and empowerment of all victims and their children. Most recently, the students welcomed the opportunity to assist the agency with necessary maintenance to the vehicle’s air conditioning system, which was critical during peak summer temperatures. Recently the Trades Club has extended its efforts beyond maintenance, working towards capacity building for vulnerable populations. “Last spring, we hosted a basic car care class for a few clients with a great turnout and even better response to the class.” shared Remic, “The clients received a gift bag from the Marinette Trades Club with a few goodies to help them inspect their vehicles after we identified basic fluids and components.” The club has also created Operation Car Care, a program where students adopt family vehicles of currently deployed servicemen and women while they are away to provide basic car care needs. They have currently received enough donations to take care of four vehicles and are still looking for more families from the Marinette, Menominee, and Peshtigo area to serve. The students are almost always willing to come in on their own time to help with these projects.” Serving the Tri-City area with coverage extending through Marinette, Oconto, & Menominee, counties requires a lot of miles and a lot of heart. With the help of the Marinette Trades Club, serving our community can be done with a bit more ease. “Our students enjoy working on the projects,” Remic shared, “We stress the importance of being able to give a little back to the community and how much of a positive impact we can make in our community.
