would. Staff from the BCFF
present their needs for the event
to the class, working with the
students to provide inspiration,
context, and requirements to
create the media needed.
According to the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention,
about 1 in 8 American women
will get breast cancer during
their lifetime. Those who face
the disease often do it with the
support of their families, friends,
and communities.
While fall signifies changing
leaves, pumpkin spice and a time
to give thanks with loved ones,
events like the Pink Pumpkin
Run/Walk serve as a reminder to
honor those who have been lost,
survivors, and those still fighting
breast cancer.
Each student then worked to
create a design package for
the staff to review before
the project deadline. After
presenting their designs to
the BCFF team in a simulated
client meeting, the staff select a
winning logo and media packages.
This ongoing partnership
provides students with essential
portfolio pieces and the
opportunity to explore real-world
design problems for print and
digital applications, requiring
students to apply critical thinking
and problem-solving skills in a
creative and expressive way.
Students also learn to identify
their audience and create design
solutions to resonate with that
audience, effectively delivering
the message.
