• The“ Flight Plan”: Always tell someone exactly which trail you are taking and your“ dead time”( the time they should call for help if they haven’ t heard from you).
• Tack Check: Check your cinch / girth, latigos, and bit connections before mounting. Look for any signs of leather rot or fraying.
• Horse ID: Consider a“ fetlock tag” or braiding a luggage tag into the mane with your contact information in case the horse gets loose.
