Each committee’s board liaison or chair presented updates and information regarding their committee in addition to Regional reports were given by the Senior Director from each of the NWHA’s geographical regions. Points of interest included growth, use of technology to expand NWHA’s reach and the possibility of youth camps. The annual meeting concluded with open forum discussions on several member driven topics, as well as a few board suggested items. The meeting was a huge success and was adjourned with an energetic aura of the year ahead! After a full weekend of discussions and meetings, the capstone event began with a compli- mentary cocktail hour, plated dinner with dessert leading up to the 2017 annual awards presenta- tions. Guests enjoyed their choice of either Maple Glazed Chicken or Bourbon Glazed Salmon in a full banquet room of conversation. The silent auction items lined the rear of the room, con- taining an array of selec- tions from horse décor, show clothing and even a stallion breeding! ~ Thank you to all who donated and to all who purchased! So many great achieve- ments were celebrated for 2017 – from the High Point competition, Dres- sage Horse of the Year (HOY), Lifetime Superior Achievement Program (LSAP) – the Annual Achievement awards for Youth, Pegasus and Phoe- nix – what a full year we have had! Over 64 divisions of high point categories were awarded in addition to the Rail, Versatility and Overall High Point horse of the year. Dressage HOY had 22 entries competing across 7 levels, while LSAP awarded 8 Regis- ter of Merit medals and a Model Championship for 2017. The annual achievement awards were awarded to 3 very qualified and deserving NWHA members, all of which were nominated by the membership for their outstanding service and achievement to the NWHA. Full details of all the awards follow in this issue of the NWHA National News. The annual weekend of events was a great success NWHA is poised to begin the next chapter of our organizational journey.
