After a rest day in Peel to give Howard time to attend a meeting in London we set
off for Port St Mary. At this point Howard took over as leader of the cruise as I had
an appointment of my own to attend to. As the wind was ideal to cross over to
Anglesey I decided not to make the turn after the Calf of Man and kept going all the
way to Cemaes. This was a fantastic sail and I averaged over 6 knots; Not bad in a
26 ft boat on autopilot!
Day 12 Conwy 24th July
26 miles: 4 hours 36 minutes
I spent the night at anchor in the little Bay on the East side of Cemaes were I met
our yearbook editor John Alder. Considering it blew up a bit during the night, the
forecast was NE 4-5, it was surprisingly sheltered in the little Bay and I slept soundly. The following morning I set off early to Conwy and arrived back at lunchtime.
The end to a great trip for me and the others followed with Howard the following
day.
All in all this was a good sailing trip and we actually got a lot of sailing in this year.
We will be discussing possible destinations for this year’s trip during the early season sailing events.
The dates will be 1st to the 14th of August 2015.
