Bryce Clark Honored as ‘Colorado Health Care Star’ In early 2019 at a weekly leadership team meeting for Level 8 on the Anschutz Medical Campus, Bryce Clark, MPA, BSN, RN, CPHQ, was surprised to see his former team from the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) division enter the room. This is weird, he thought. Then, Chief Medical and Patient Safety Officer Dan Hyman, MD, started reading an award nomination, and Clark was even more surprised. Dr. Hyman, flanked by the QPS team, presented Clark with the Colorado Hospital Association's Health Care Star Award, given to healthcare employees across the state who have exceeded their roles and made a true impact in their workplace and communities. The award winners are passionate, caring professionals who set an example for others. For Clark, who recently joined the Level 8 leadership team as a clinical manager, the award was a celebration of four years of dedication as an improvement lead within Quality and Patient Safety. He received the award, in part, because of his leadership on numerous safety initiatives including: • A hand hygiene reboot with revamped training for auditors • Regular data submission and feedback that resulted in organizational HH adherence exceeding 93% consistently for the past several years • CLABSI reduction efforts across the organization and demonstrated process reliability rates above 90% for the past two years, with a dramatic reduction of rates through 2017 Clark said the award was a great surprise and he felt honored to have both his old and new teams there to support him. 20 People
