The Pupil Portfolio The Pupil Portfolio is a document where nursery staff record your child’s progress within the nursery curriculum. Staff record what children ‘Write, Make, Say or Do’ using photographs and written observations of your child in nursery. The Pupil Portfolio is discussed at Parents’ Evenings and is made available to children and parents/ carers at all times. Parents/ carers are also encouraged to contribute to the Pupil Portfolio by adding photographs and information about learning taking place at home. More information on the Pupil Portfolio is available at our Meet the Teacher events throughout the year. Snacks & Equipment Children have a small snack and full cream milk or water every day. The Council promotes healthy eating through the provision of fresh fruit, wholemeal bread, cheese etc. Children are encouraged to be independent and to help themselves to snacks. The Council follows the NHS guidelines ‘Setting the Table’. Individual likes and dislikes cannot be catered for, but please advise the nursery if your child has a medically identified allergy to a particular food or to milk or if your child cannot eat certain foods for cultural reasons. A weekly charge of £1 is made for snack. We suggest a yearly £20 donation for developing new ideas in the nursery, replacing broken toys or contributing towards events. We are a cashless school. On enrolling at nursery you will gain log in details for ParentPay where you can pay for your snack & equipment. Each half day counts as one session. Illness If your child is ill or feeling unwell it is much better for him/her to be at home rather than in the busy nursery. Very often children say they want to come even though they may have been sick during the night. Judge carefully – children do not get the best out of nursery, nor are they able to give their best, when they are feeling under par. If your child is unwell, please keep him/her at home and notify your nursery. If a child has had sickness or diarrhoea, please do not attend for 48 hours after the last bout of symptoms before returning to nursery. Please let your nursery know if your child has an infectious illness such as chicken-pox, measles, whooping cough, mumps, or rubella. If your child is sick, please leave a message on the schools absence line on 01764 661255 before 8.30am. If you require to speak to someone, the office will be open from 8.30am each day. Absence Notification If you know in advance that your child will not be attending Nursery, please let a member of staff know. If your child has been recorded as absent, and no prior notification has been given by the parent or carer, the nursery will attempt to contact you via groupcall as soon as possible within one hour of school start time on the first day of absence, using the emergency contact number provided. If no response is given to the groupcall under our absence policy we will call you to make sure everything is okay. 10
