SIMON POWELL INTERIM PRESIDENT & CEO Dear Friends, I am thankful for each of you. Your support after the passing of our beloved Jan was humbling to say the least. On behalf of the entire Food Bank, we are thankful for YOU. Looking back on this fiscal year, I am filled with gratitude. With your support, our North Texas Food Bank staff was able to make tremendous advancements on behalf of the more than 800,000 people in North Texas struggling with food insecurity — something that Jan was so passionate about. Jan’s legacy is cemented here in North Texas, and nationally via her work with Feeding America, thanks to her tireless work to feed the hungry. We will proudly carry Jan’s torch and continue to work to provide even more meals to our hungry neighbors. This work will include revitalizing our distribution methods. This year, thanks to our generous donors, NTFB now has two mobile pantries visiting high-need areas in North Texas, working eagerly to provide fresh produce and other nutritious foods to those unable to get to a reliable food pantry. Sharing Life Community Outreach in Mesquite now serves as a Hub- or mini food bank- as part of NTFB’s Hub-and-spoke concept. This latest endeavor will allow Sharing Life to serve as not just a food pantry, but also a distribution center for other smaller food pantries in their vicinity. The North Texas Food Bank will be adding Hubs throughout our 13-county service area to ensure all of our neighbors have equitable access to healthy foods. In the last fiscal year, NTFB provided access to some 70 million meals, yet more work remains to be done to meet our goal of providing 92 million meals annually. I am confident that in the years to come, our t eam will continue to honor Jan by making great strides in the fight against food insecurity. On behalf of NTFB, I thank you for your support and look forward to all that we can accomplish together in the upcoming fiscal year. Sincerely, Simon Powell 5
