Adult Programs

Gator Bocce

Come try your hand at bocce! This season of Gator Bocce is for athletes of all skill and experience levels. Gator athletes will learn the rules of bocce as well as different strategies that can be applied during competition. Athletes will have the opportunity to compete in the Special Olympics district competition in April as well as an indoor competition in May. All Gator athletes must have a current Special Olympics Medical Application for Participation on file to compete in bocce. No program April 10. Goals: Enhance upper extremity gross motor skills through throwing a ball. Enhance attention and concentration by targeting a point. Learn bocce rules and skills, and improve problem solving and decision making skills through competitions.

Strength & Conditioning

Together we’ ll learn how to increase our strength through different exercise techniques such as machines, free weights, and the use of the track. Staff at the program will assist each participant in a successful workout. Note: This program is not competitive. No program April 10. Goals: Increase knowledge of fitness machines. Maintain a personal fitness log. Increase strength and endurance.

Gator Softball

Take me out to the ball game! Join NSSRA this spring in competitive softball. Athletes will spend the first part of the season completing skill assessments and practice followed by weekly games that are hosted both at home and away. In addition, athletes will have the opportunity to compete in both Special Olympics and ITRS tournaments during the summer. Tournament and weekly competition schedules will be distributed at the beginning of the season. Note: Practices and games take place outdoors and are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Game locations and transportation times will vary. Athletes must have a current Special Olympics Medical Application for Participation on file to compete. Athletes must bring their own mitt to every practice and game. No program April 11 and July 4. Goals: Increase physical conditioning. Enhance strength and endurance through running and field sports. Develop sense of teamwork.
