Bright Star Theatre Company

Join NSSRA for a theater program designed for teens who are interested in acting in a live production! Our participants will be joined with Creative Companions and Northbrook Park District Theatre staff to help facilitate a professional production of " Shake with a Zombie: A One-Act Musical Comedy!" Pat ' s Luncheonette, " Home of the Exotic Milkshakes," is the hangout for high school students after school. Hilarity abounds when Mongo, a rockchomping alien, visits Pat’ s with plans to take over the world. Mongo turns the kids into zombies who must read books so he can steal all the knowledge on earth. Pat saves the day and the kids in this upbeat comedy for all ages.
Space is limited so register early! There will be additional practices during production week; the schedule will be determined at a later date. Performances are scheduled for Saturday, April 8 at 5:00 pm and Sunday, April 9 at 1:00 pm. All interested actors and companions must register for this program through NSSRA. No program October 11, November 22, December 27, January 3 and March 28.
Goals: Gain experience in a theater setting and in show production. Increase social interaction with peers.

Creative Companions

We are looking for volunteers ages 15 – 25 ready to share in the fun and excitement of a theater production! As a Creative Companion, you will be paired with an actor or stage crew member with special needs as he or she participates in a professional theater production of " Shake with a Zombie: A One-Act Musical Comedy!” Space is limited so register early! There will be additional practices during production week; the schedule will be determined at a later date. Performances are scheduled for Saturday, April 8 at 5:00 pm and Sunday, April 9 at 1:00 pm. While there is no fee for companions, you must register through NSSRA using the code below. No program October 11, November 22, December 27, January 3 and March 28.
Note: Creative Companions will meet on Tuesday, September 13 at the Northbrook Leisure Center from 4:30- 5:30 pm for an orientation.

Private Piano Lessons

Do you want to learn how to play the piano? This program offers thirty minutes of individual lessons developed by a certified music therapist on the piano( piano will be on-site). No skills are necessary to sign up for this program; the instruction will be developed based on needs and skill level. Everyone is welcome! Returning participants have priority registration through 5:00 pm on July 29 for their same time slot from the previous season. All other registrations will be accepted and reviewed after July 29. You are welcome to state a time preference, however, no slots are guaranteed. You will be notified of your assigned half-hour time slot prior to the start of program. A guardian will need to stay on-site during the lesson. No program October 11 and October 12. Goals: Develop an understanding and appreciation of music. Increase ability to follow instructions. Promote development of fine motor skills required to play an instrument.
