Cheah Ray Zen – “ For the tournament , I booked the lanes during non-peak hours . As I was having my school break , I took advantage of my flexible schedule .
Personally , coming back from a 7-month hiatus from bowling was not easy but I had a consistent training schedule with Coach Derek and we worked on building a strong foundation . The way I see it , it ’ s what separates you from the pack ; those with a strong foundation have a better footing to further improve their game .”
Lim Wan Ling – “ The safe management measures have allowed me to concentrate more when I train , since I mostly train alone or with my academy . When training in groups , certain coaches are assigned to specific groups , allowing the coaches to focus more on the smaller group of five people , hence helping me improve my bowling skills .”
Lim Kai Jie – “ I usually train with the team or by myself . As the new rules restrict the number of people per lane , it makes it a lot easier to focus on my training . Although it feels different , especially for the tournament where the bustle from the crowd is missing , it does not really take away the essence of training and tournaments , so it is easy to adapt to these changes .”
Jovan Chua – “ Although training was greatly reduced due to this pandemic , I still try to get as much practice as I can . Although I ’ m still allowed to train at NSRCC , I also do bowling-related exercises at home so that I do not have to go out as much . Wearing the mask to bowl is a little uncomfortable , but I think it is something we have to get used to .”
