The Editor Speaks Dear Members Rows of parked buggies waiting for absent golfers. The eerie silence of the bowling lanes devoid of the crashing sound of falling pins. At the swimming pool, nothing moves except for some leaves floating on the water. This scenario is dream-like but with the Club in circuit breaker mode, it is as real as it gets. NSRCC, like all other sports and recreational facilities in Singapore, has been closed since early April as the country fights the COVID-19 pandemic. While all of us are getting used to the new reality of staying at home, it is hoped that this issue of RV will in some way help keep you connected to the Club. And speaking of connection, what can be stronger than our connection with food? NSRCC member, Mike Neo turns food reviewer to sample the offerings of Chef Ah Weng who has taken over the kitchen of Fairway Cafe at NSRCC Kranji. After reading his review, I have a strong hunch that many golfers may be persuaded to play golf at Kranji as soon as the circuit breaker is lifted! This may also be a good time for golfers to re-familiarise themselves with the signature holes that they encounter week after week, perhaps without much thought. NSRCC member, Brian Tan describes the challenges faced by golfers that define Changi hole #8 and Kranji hole #5 as signature holes. With the enforced hiatus, golfers may want to use the time to learn more about golf psychology from NSRCC member, Johnny Ong. In this final instalment of a 3-part series, he discusses cognitive and behavioural techniques that can help make or break a golfer's game. Moving on to bowling, this group of sportsmen will know a thing or two about the psychology of winning as they represent their sport at the highest level. Executive (Resort Bowl), Dennis Chew speaks to NSRCC bowlers Brandon Ong, Cheah Ray Han, Jovan Chua and Xavier Teo who are all in the national team and have represented Singapore in various international bowling tournaments. Until we meet again, stay home, stay safe and we hope to be able to welcome you back to the Club soon. Regards, Chua Swee Kiat Editor RESORT VIEW 3
