Kay Thompson Outstanding Legislator Award
PDA presented the Kay Thompson Outstanding Legislator Award to Rep. Greg Scott( D-Montgomery) at the Pennsylvania Dental Meeting this past April.
Rep. Scott was our primary sponsor on the Virtual Credit Card legislation that passed the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 2024. He championed the bill the entire way through the process in the House of Representatives, with his colleagues in the Senate, and with Governor Shapiro for his signature.
The Virtual Credit Card legislation does not prohibit insurers from using virtual credit card payments altogether, but it does require that virtual credit cards not be the only option. It also requires insurers to provide notice to participating dentists of all payment options, as well as instructions and contact information for dentists to obtain the exact fees imposed by the insurer or its contracted vendor( s). This new law gives participating dentists the ability to opt into the payment option that works best for their dental practice
