PADPAC Gives You a Voice M AY If you want to attend a fundraiser in your home area or in Harrisburg please let us know and we’ll get you ready so you are an effective advocate and have fun. We attended a lot of significant fundraisers – all to good effect. PADPAC attended the following fund raisers in 2019: MARCH Sen. John Blake (D-Lackawanna) – Government Relations Committee chair Dr. Darleen Oleski met with Sen. Blake in his district and strategized on the best way to move our HB 564 through the General Assembly. House Democratic Professional Licensure chair Rep. Harry Readshaw (D-Allegheny) - We have worked with him to move HB 64, carryover of CE credits, through the legislature. Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin) - She is a long time friend and stalwart supporter of PDA. She has been with us every step of the way. Rep. Karen Boback (R-Luzerne) - She is the prime sponsor of HB 488, PDA’s dental student loan forgiveness bill. She is a true friend to PDA and organized dentistry. Her son is a dentist in California. Sen. Joe Pittman (R-Indiana) - As a Senate staffer he was a huge help in moving our Assignment of Benefits bill through the General Assembly last year. We couldn’t have done it without him. When he ran for the 41st Senatorial seat we supported him very early on. APRIL Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-Warren) - she is the House Health Committee chair. Majority Caucus Administrator Kurt Masser (R-Northumberland) - He is a member of House leadership who handles the various day-to-day tasks involving the House Republican caucus. 32 NOV E M B E R/DE CE M BER 2019 | P EN N S YLVA N IA D EN TA L J O UR NAL Rep. Jerry Knowles (R-Schuylkill) - He is a friend of PDA and is also the Chair of the Subcommittee on Health Facilities. Rep. Steven Mentzer (R-Lancaster) - He is the vice-chair of the House Insurance Committee. JUNE Rep. Stephen Barrar (R-Delaware) - He is a standout friend to PDA and is always with us in the fight for your profession and your patients. PDA president Dr. Charles Incalcaterra and immediate past president Dr. Jim Boyle attended the House Republican Roundup. The Roundup is the summer picnic fundraiser for House Republicans. The House is currently majority Republican. They had an opportunity to discuss PDA issues with a number of House members. Rep. Mike Schlossberg (D-Lehigh) - He sits on the Health, Human Services and Professional Licensure committees. Rep. Mindy Fee (R-Lancaster) - She is the prime sponsor of PDA supported bill HB 994 which would allow Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioners (PHDHPs) to conduct dental screenings at schools. The Senate Republican Hoopla- The Hoopla is the summer picnic fundraiser for Senate Republicans. The House is currently majority Republican. SEPTEMBER Dr. Steven Grater, GRC member, attended the Central PA Golf Outing with House Appropriations chair Rep. Stan Saylor (R-York), Rep. Tom Mehaffie (R-Dauphin), and PDA lobbyist Peg Kuskin.
