5th Annual Walk To End Hunger Was a Great Success
On a beautiful Sunday in August, BetterLife Members – Lincoln, NE, along with the Lincoln Knights of Columbus, hosted their annual Walk to End Hunger. Over 200 people of all ages gathered for this walk-athon to benefit Catholic Social Services( CSS) Food Market by helping to fill their shelves and bring hope to those less fortunate. The event ' s goal was to collect 35,000 pounds of food. Monetary donations were also welcome.
The festivities kicked off on a cheerful note as the Pius X High School Marching Band led the group in a lap around the track. BetterLife Board Member Mike Hosek joined others at the front of the walkers to carry a banner and cheerfully encourage participation. Children ages nine and under could enter a drawing for the chance to win a new bike, while walkers over 10 years old who completed at least four laps could enter a drawing for gift cards to local businesses and Amazon.
Everyone had a great time walking, lending a hand, and helping make it a true celebration of community. This annual event demonstrates that great things can happen when people work together to do good and bring hope to those in need.
Coming Together To Enjoy a Beautiful Day
It was a sunny September morning when BetterLife Members- Alexandria, MN, gathered at their Lodge Hall for the annual Plow Days event. Because of the recent rain, the fields were too wet for farming, so those typically out working were able to attend, making this year ' s event extra special.
One of the top highlights of the day was an extended hayride. The sounds of talking and laughter filled the air as everyone took in the beautiful scenery along country roads. The gathering wouldn ' t be complete without a lunch that included hot dogs and homemade desserts. Kids and adults alike took turns spinning the BetterLife Wheel for candy and prizes.
This special event reminded attendees of the importance of coming together to create memories and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
