Our Charbonneau Country Club Board of Directors has suggested setting up a framework to offer residents the opportunity to volunteer and give a little back to our community. The idea involves looking for people willing to share their time and talents doing something they enjoy or using a skill that they are proficient at. Some examples include: administrative assistance, which may involve working with the office or emergency preparedness staff and helping with labeling, filing or copying jobs; landscape work around the Village Center, including planting flowers, weeding and raking; maintenance, maybe minor plumbing or painting( no ladder work) as safety and liability issues must be a priority; activity set up, putting out chairs for social functions; Christmas decorating at the Activity Center and Clubhouse and solving computer technology issues.
Any of this work will be on an as-needed basis with no long-term commitment. This is by no means an all-inclusive list. If you see something that grabs your interest or you want to make another suggestion, please reach out to CCC Activities Director Lindy Anderson to offer your assistance. You can reach Lindy at Andersonlindy @ comcast. net or by phone at 503-784-9645. Hopefully this will become an avenue to make new acquaintances in our community with

neighbors with like-minded skills.
And volunteer work can be very helpful. It seems when the fence was installed around Edith Green Park for the dogs, the cross pieces of wood were not painted or treated. In just two seasons it was showing signs of excessive wear. An estimate to prep and apply stain came to $ 5,000. Up stepped resident dog owners Terry and Pat Adams with the idea of spearheading the work needed with local volunteers. A former business owner, Terry is a member of the Charbonneau Asset Management Committee, a group working to be good stewards with the money residents pay CCC in our dues.
Terry has somehow evolved into the local ambassador at the dog park. With one exception he may just know more about dog parks than anyone in Oregon. That exception would be his wife Pat.

Terry and Pat Adams coordinated the fence work at Edith Green Park.
She was instrumental in getting the first dog park in Oregon up and running in Ashland. Edith Green Park has become very popular with local dog owners. There seems to be a hierarchy in place at the park. Owners of the smaller dogs tend to come between noon and 2:30 p. m. with many of the larger dogs coming after 3 p. m. When you throw a ball for an 80-pound lab to retrieve, it will run full blast in a straight line and may happen to topple a small dog or possibly a person in its path.
The park is intended to be a safe place for dogs and residents. A little common sense goes a long way when you visit with your pet. A new set of park use rules will soon be posted. In the meantime this group of volunteers will continue to come together to protect the fence and foster a sense of community in the neighborhood. because of what reality the mirror will show.
Being there to help that child to see their own beauty and awesomeness can change those visions during a life timeline to years of greatness and potential. Boys & Girls Aid is an avenue to accomplishing that. What the child’ s or teen’ s eyes see in the mirror should be love, happiness and hope. We need to help them strive for that vision.
We at the Cypress Branch are here to welcome new members or maybe you are the spouse of an existing member. There are two levels of membership, regular membership and patron. Regular members typically want to take an active role in the organization, whether it is going to the luncheons, playing bridge as a fundraiser or merely taking advantage of the many opportunities to help. Being a patron member is usually either a person that can’ t attend or participate in what is offered or a patron may want to support by giving a bit more. Either way take a look at who we are and what we do, then give us a try and join the organization.
