Dinner in a garden

In September, Solo Sisters enjoyed a rare and wonderful outdoor barbeque in the beautiful garden setting at the home of committee member, Marian Bailey. Marian, an avid
FERGUSON gardener, has a huge backyard that backs up on the farmer’ s field, east of Charbonneau. We enjoyed walking along paths of roses and dahlias, black eyed susans and various grasses. The yard was filled with bird houses, sculptures and roosters, and we saw wheelbarrows and wagons filled with plants and flowers. Tables and chairs were set up throughout the yard, and there we enjoyed our dinner in a garden.
Solo Sisters love their barbecues. Last year, in the summer of 2024, we enjoyed a cookout in the Pavilion. Karen Giardina and I enjoy practicing our burger-flipping skills, so we
friends. His perseverance was a lasting lesson in grace and gratitude.
Alan Kirk’ s legacy lives on in the city he helped shape, the community he cherished and the many people he inspired along the way. His was truly a life well lived and he will be deeply missed.
happily volunteer whenever cooks are needed. And our members always provide us with memorable sides and desserts to accompany the burgers.
In 2021 we enjoyed another barbeque in the Country View part of Charbonneau, and it too was adjacent to the farmer’ s field. Two very different, very beautiful backyard settings for barbeques were enjoyed in recent years by our lucky group of ladies.
In a couple of weeks, at our October meeting, Lake Oswego artist Carrie Kaufman will be speaking to us about her art. Her style is called“ mixed media”, and it should be a very interesting presentation.
Our year is winding down. Since Thanksgiving takes place on the fourth Thursday, our meeting day, we do not get together, but we encourage members to invite singles to their homes to celebrate the holiday. Then in early December we will hold our annual Holiday Party in the Fireplace Room, which is always well attended and is enjoyed by all!
If you are a single woman living in Charbonneau and would like to know more about Solo Singles, please send an email to Deanna Morgan at deannamorgan @ gmail. com and she will provide you with more information.
