COMMERCIAL RENOVATION / NEW CONSTRUCTION
HIGHWAY ATTRACTION
THE PROJECT : A commercial office space configured into twelve work units ranging from 640 to 2,500 square feet , constructed from thirty-five recycled shipping containers .
WHAT THE JUDGES LIKED IN 2011 : The dynamic design , which works both spatially and structurally .
WHY WE LIKE IT NOW : The color is the first thing that stands out . It features a creative , affordable use of existing materials , and a forward-thinking execution that includes super-efficient energy systems . The corrugated exteriors and underside of the roof tie into the interior look , and as a showstopper overlooking Route 10 in Providence , it definitely has the wow factor .
