THE PROJECT : A Jamestown bungalow in dire need of TLC .
WHAT THE JUDGES LIKED IN 2017 : No detail was overlooked , including the addition of a dog run for the resident black Labs .
WHY WE LIKE IT NOW : “ It has a cozy , storybook look ,” said one staffer . The architect didn ’ t do anything odd to the original structure , and that allows it to retain its warmth and sweetness . The curving details of the windows echo the arbor leading to the garden . The house underwent a major addition , not visible from the street , that adds to the footprint without creating a jarring visual effect .
