Hometown Help
“If it weren’t for the Thomases and other wonderful
people, we would probably still be in our tight little Home
on Gray Street,” shared former President & CEO Gordon
Brown.
Joan and Lee Thomas were honored at Home of the
Innocents’ Heroes for the Home fundraising breakfast
in early June for their amazing contributions to the
organization, enabling the continuation of services and
introduction of new services for kids across our state.
According to Christopher 2X, community activist who
worked closely with the Thomases, “Dr. Joan Thomas
chose, as a medical professional, to treat the poor.
Her ideals were always in the direction of wanting to
help children, and making a difference in the lives of
our future generations. They believed in Home of the
Innocents and many other causes. If they believed in it,
they supported it, financially and otherwise.
They were an example for human
potential. ”

“Lee Thomas was the benchmark
of fairness, integrity, character
and accountability. They are
models for others in our society.
It’s a rare commodity when
people give of themselves to
support, help and develop others
– especially young people – with no

strings attached,” shared Larry McDonald, President of
the Lincoln Foundation.
Glenn Thomas, son of Joan and Lee, summarized his
parents best. “In a time when our society seems to be
suffering from great division, I hear my father’s voice
saying to remember that there’s always something
