Hometown Help Many of the kids at Home of the Innocents wake up each day and feel the pain of their past. They’re constantly reminded of the struggles they have endured at such a young age. They are in need of a smile, a helping hand and a friendly reminder that they are loved! A group of employees from Humana’s Agent Retail Sales Operations Support department, also known as Team Mills, decided to give their time and impact our kids’ lives in a unique way. The group of 20 employees made motivational canvases for our residential cottages where they are hung for the kids to see every day. The canvases serve as a small reminder that they’re important. The littlest things such as an inspirational reminder make the biggest impact for our kids here at the Home. Team Mills enjoyed using their creative talents to come up with quotes and images to decorate the canvases. Julie Spry, Volunteer Services Manager, says, “the work they did goes to show that anyone can make an impact for our kids, you do not have to have exceptional skills to volunteer your time here.” Paul Robinson hands out stuffed backpacks at Open Arms Children’s Health’s Back to School Bash in July. Many of the kids living here have gone through the unimaginable. When volunteers give their time to make inspirational art, help with homework, assist staff with organizing donations, doing administrative work or cleaning our campus, every skill shared with N YO U C A the Home makes a difference in the kids’ HELP! lives and their environment. at e it s b e w r Visit ou .org to einnocents nt Team Mills’ leader, Sharon Mills, shared, homeofth e u ut our c rr o b a rn a le “we want to do more volunteer work for ies opportunit volunteer r e te n the Home.
