Community Coordination
Community Coordinators utilize data from assessments to identify the resources needed for returning citizens . This data is incorporated into comprehensive plans which guide the work executed daily by Community Coordinators . Two main functions of community coordination include capacity building and direct linkage . Capacity building refers to increasing identified service providers that are willing to work with those under supervision by
DCS .
BETWEEN THE ONSET OF THE PANDEMIC IN MARCH 2020 AND DECEMBER 31 , 2020 , THERE HAVE BEEN A TOTAL OF 4,848 LINKAGES STATEWIDE , PROVING THE NEEDED SERVICES WERE STILL IDENTIFIED AND ADDRESSED .
Housing Coordination
DCS does not directly provide housing or other basic needs to Georgia residents . However , DCS connects supervised individuals with resources available in their communities that may impact their ability to successfully complete their supervision sentence . Stable housing is shown to be a key factor in an individual ’ s ability to avoid
revocation .
FROM MARCH 1 , 2020 TO DECEMBER 31 , 2020 , THERE HAVE BEEN A TOTAL OF 1,301 HOUSING PLACEMENTS ACROSS THE STATE .
During this unprecedented time , DCS has also maintained its relationships with and have enhanced housing efforts by shifting its focus to attracting providers that best fits the needs of the population . Currently , DCS has 55 compliant Reentry Partnership Housing ( RPH ) providers . The goal of the RPH program is to provide short term housing assistance to help stabilize current supervised individual ' s reentry process to enhance his or her ability to remain crime free .
