I remember a story I heard years ago about Mary Kay the cosmetics party plan queen. Well
before she created the cosmetics company Mary Kay was in party plan, as a way to sup-
port her 3 children being a single mother in the 1940’s.
The company she was with offered a fabulous recruiting incentive over a short space of
time. Mary Kay knew she had to achieve that incentive so she re-scheduled ALL her parties
for the incentive time and focussed on Recruiting and Onboarding. She made phone calls
and set up coffee chats. She went through her Customer list and contacted EVERYONE to
offer them the opportunity to join her Team. She asked for referrals and FOLLOWED UP.
She made it happen because she knew the difference not only the incentive would make
to her family but also because of the difference it would provide with ongoing growth and
income for her family.
