November 2018 GRANGER Vol 1 Issue 1 Shawntay Hammonds, LMS Inside the Issue INTERACTIVE LESSONS Students visit the Granger library with their class for library lessons designed to enhance their understanding of curriculum, literary, and library concepts.   The month of October was "Mystery Month" for our third graders.  The culminating activity was a "real life" mystery where students used clues and evidence to hone their detective and inferencing skills.   READ TO YOUR BUNNY Read to Your Bunny is a preschool story time which includes books, songs, and related activities.     Children participate in computer, math, and literacy stations as well.  We meet the third Monday of the month and welcome children aged birth to five.  ROBOTICS Thanks to a grant from the Northwest ISD Education Foundation, all second grade students have had the opportunity to build and program Lego WeDo 2.0 robots.   This year, twenty-four students were selected to participate in our Lego Robotics Club.   The club meets every Tuesday after school where students work with a partner to invent, design and code Lego EV3 Robots.   Additionally, students in second through fifth grade are learning to create code for Ozobots as a part of the global initiative, Hour of Code.     TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES Library resources, databases, and websites have been curated for each grade level using the online program, Symbaloo.  Each grade level has their own Symbaloo to provide students, teachers, and parents quick access to beneficial curriculum based resources.
